Learn About the Savannah Youth Ambassador Program

Applications are now being accepted for the Savannah Youth Ambassador Program. The Savannah Youth Ambassador Program fosters youth leadership and civic engagement through City sponsored training, cultural exploration opportunities, and Make a Difference community impact projects.
SYA SUMMER INSTITUTE OVERVIEW Savannah Youth Ambassadors participate in leadership development sessions and hands-on activities that encourage personal, social, and civic development.Guest facilitators will present on topics such as social media, life after high school, the history of Savannah and its neighborhoods, and much more.Participants will explore various local businesses as well as civic, academic, and cultural institutions. The program culminates with participants designing, coordinating, and implementing a collaborative, make a difference community impact project.
PARTICIPANT CRITERIA Participants will be chosen through a selective application and interview process, and must meet the following requirements:
Be a Rising 9th – 12th Grader as of Summer 2016
Be a City of Savannah Resident (Applicants must live within Savannah's city limits)
Have Access to Reliable Transportation
Provide Copy of Most Recent Report Card
Provide One Teacher Letter of Recommendation
Complete the Application and Upload Supporting Documents by 5 P.M. on Friday, March 11, 2016
SYA SUMMER INSTITUTE SCHEDULE SYA Summer Institute is held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. at Savannah State University and various locations throughout the City. The program runs from June 6th – July 22nd, with a break for the July 4th holiday week.
SYA is a no-cost program sponsored by the Department of Community Planning and Development and the Citizen Office.
